Antonio
Sausys (B.A. Psychology, M.A. body-oriented Psychotherapy) is a somatic
health practitioner and yoga professor specializing in one-on-one yoga therapy
for
people with medical and emotional conditions, both chronic and acute.
During his career, Antonio discovered a key correlation between modern
body-oriented psychotherapy and ancient yogic teachings, and has integrated
the best practices from both worlds. He applies specific yogic techniques
for individuals to create a “Yoga Sadhana”. This is a specific
and personalized yogic routine that best serves the individual’s needs
and abilities, integrating mind, body and spirit to fully embrace the experience
of life.
He studied with Yoga masters and teachers such as Indra Devi, Swami Shankaradevananda, Swami Ekananda, Babashi Singh, Ram Dass, Swami Pragyamurti and Larry Payne. He has continued his professional development with training in Foot Reflexology, Swedish Therapeutic Massage, the Degriefing Process and Reiki.
Antonio teaches and lectures at U.C. Berkeley, California Institute of Integral Studies, and College of Marin; has been a faculty member at the International Yoga College and former Honorary Secretary of the International Yoga Federation for USA. He is a member of the World Yoga Council, the International Association of Yoga Therapy, Director of US Yoga Federation and the US Delegate of International Yogatherapy Association. His work has been published in several health related national and international journals and he is Co-Editor for All Things Healing.
He created a ‘Yoga for Grief Relief’ program to induce self knowledge and personal transformation by addressing and working on the physical and emotional symptoms of grief. www.yogaforgriefrelief.com
He also developed a ‘Yoga for Cancer’ program based on the premise ‘Spirit can’t have Cancer’ and leads groups receiving individuals from the Oncology Departments at Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, Marin Cancer Institute and UCSF. He is presently bringing his program to Bennett Cancer Center and The Health and Fitness Institute of Stamford Hospital in Connecticut.
The program draws elements from Yoga and Psychotherapy to integrate techniques, thoughtful insights and, why not, humor, in a very dynamic class intended to provide practitioners with tools to better understand and cope with life with cancer. It is designed to accept all types of Cancer and all levels of experience and rather than presenting random series, the class features the use of specific series and techniques to accomplish particular goals. The program also emphasizes the relationship between the physical techniques and their mental and spiritual correlates to empower those with cancer towards personal realization.
Antonio Sausys resides in Marin County with a thriving yoga practice throughout the Bay Area. In addition to speaking engagements and workshops, he is a radio (http://www.iamhealthyradio.com/antonio_sausys_1.html)and TV host, and is fluent in four languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese and Italian. He is the founder and Executive Director of ‘Yoga for Health’ the International Yoga Therapy Conference.
